Application Requirements


The application process for the fully online undergraduate program at Simmons is intentionally personal. We want to get to know you as an individual, as well as your past academic endeavors and your future potential.

Applicants to CompleteDegree@Simmons will need to gather and complete the following:

RN to BSN nursing program applicants will also be required to provide an RN license and Associate degree. Learn more about additional application details for the RN to BSN program.

Online Application

Adult learners and transfer students seeking admission to the fully online undergraduate program should apply through our application system.

Personal Statement 

  • Please reflect upon your experiences, which could include personal, educational and professional. Describe how these experiences have influenced your decision to pursue a Simmons education at this time. 
    • If you are currently enrolled at another college or university, please also address your reasons for transferring from your current institution, and the objectives you hope to achieve at Simmons.
  • Please double space your statement, which should be between two and four pages long.

College Transcripts

Simmons requires transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities. 17+ prior college credits are required. Copies of high school transcript(s) are also required unless you have received an Associate’s Degree.

Official transcripts should be sent directly by the institution, or through an official transcript e-delivery service, to the Simmons Online Undergraduate Admission Office.

Proof of High School Completion/Equivalency

To demonstrate proof of high school graduation or equivalency, applicants must submit:

An official high school transcript showing proof of graduation.


Official score results from a high school equivalency exam (HiSET, GED, TASC, etc).


A signed form attesting to the completion of high school requirements or earned equivalency exam with applicable dates and locations. Please complete this high school attestation form and upload it to your application. Title your uploaded form as: “Last Name_First Name_High School Attestation.”

The high school attestation form cannot be accepted for applicants to the nursing program.

Letter of Recommendation 

One letter of recommendation is required (academic preferred if recently enrolled in school).

Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)

An up-to-date resume or CV is recommended, but not required. 

RN to BSN Application Details

Applicants to the RN to BSN nursing program will also need to provide:

  • RN license – A current unencumbered and unrestricted U.S registered nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Associate degree – An associate degree (AA or AAS).

Qualified RN Applicants Automatically Receive 94 Transfer Credits

Earn your RN to BSN in as few as 12 months

Applicants who have completed an Associates Degree in Nursing program from a regionally accredited college or university and have passed the NCLEX Registered Nurse Examination will be awarded credit as a block of 72 credits. Applicants with an unencumbered/unrestricted active RN license will be awarded 22 creditsTotaling 94 transfer credits.
