  • BSW — A women-centered, CSWE-accredited1 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program for adult learners and transfer students with at least 17 prior college credits. Up to 96 transfer credits accepted. Scholarships available.
  • MSW — A coeducational, CSWE-accredited2 Master of Social Work (MSW) program for students with a bachelor’s degree. Advanced standing, accelerated, full-time, and extended program tracks fit a variety of lifestyles and goals. GRE scores not required. Scholarships available.
  • DSW — A coeducational Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program for students with an MSW. Focus areas offered in leadership, clinical practice, and teaching. GRE scores not required.

Simmons School of Social Work was founded in 1904 as a joint venture with Harvard University to educate aspiring social work leaders. Our programs are led by social work professionals actively working to advance the field. As an online student, you will work closely with faculty in immersive live, online courses to develop the skills and expertise needed to rise to the next level as a social work practitioner, leader, and changemaker.

  • BSW: Complete in as few as 12 months
  • MSW: Complete in as few as 12 months

In the online BSW program, you can complete the coursework required to apply for the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) exam, which measures social work knowledge and competencies — and graduate prepared to apply to our Advanced Standing online MSW program.3

The online MSW program will help you develop advanced skills needed for clinical practice —with optional certificates in Mental Health Practice and Trauma Practice.

The online DSW program will prepare you to drive progress in the social work field through inclusive leadership, advanced clinical practice, and evidence-based education.
