Guide to Supporting the Homeless

Though the United States is the wealthiest nation in the world, more than half a million Americans (564,708) were homeless last year.

Fifteen percent of Americans were chronically homeless in 2015, meaning they had been homeless for a year or longer.

The graphic illustrates a list of items that volunteers may want to assemble and donate to support those who are homeless in the winter months. Examples of items to donate include, but are not limited to, antibiotic ointment, band aids, combs, deodorant, gloves, granola bars, hats, lip balm, rain ponchos, soap, socks, tissues, toothbrushes, toothpaste, water bottles, and business cards with contact information for an agency that offers services for homeless.
