Tuition & Financial Aid

Tuition & Fees

Tuition for the online Doctor of Nursing Practice program is based on the annual cost per credit multiplied by the total number of credits required to graduate.

Credits2024-2025 Academic Year Cost per CreditTotal Cost

A moderate increase in tuition should be expected each academic year. Tuition includes assessments, technology platform licensing, and support. Tuition does not include the cost of books, travel for campus immersions, and the $175 student fee per term.

Because of the curriculum structure, the last three terms of the DNP program do not meet the minimum enrollment threshold for federal student loan eligibility. As such, students are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Nursing@Simmons offers several scholarship opportunities to admitted students. No separate application is necessary. Availability of scholarships and the amounts awarded may vary term-to-term.

Financing Your Degree

As a Nursing@Simmons student, you have various options to fund your degree.

Financial aid and other educational funding options include:

Double Shark Scholarship

Simmons alumnae/i with a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree will be automatically awarded the Double Shark Scholarship when enrolling into an eligible Simmons graduate degree or certificate program. Following admission, your scholarship letter will detail the significant savings you will receive — up to 20% tuition savings — when you return to Simmons for a second degree.

There is no special application required for the Double Shark Scholarship, and the Admission team will work closely with you to streamline the application process as much as possible. Reach out to your Admission Counselor for details!

Financial Aid

For U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the options for financial assistance include federal loans, private loans, and grants. Awards vary from year to year depending on the number of applicants, their financial need, and available resources. We encourage you to apply for financial aid at the same time you apply for Nursing@Simmons.

To be eligible for loans, applicants must be accepted into the program, enrolled at least half time, and current on payments for any previous Federal Stafford or Perkins loans.

Applicants must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and any additional supporting documents that may be required. The FAFSA code for Simmons University is 002208. Filing your FAFSA online expedites the processing time. Submit your FAFSA via the Department of Education’s website at

Visit the Student Financial Services website for additional details regarding general financial aid information, specific information for online students, and loan options, or call 1-617-521-2001.

Payment Plan

Simmons also offers a payment plan that students can take advantage of to cover the cost of tuition or supplement any remaining cost not covered by federal or private loans. The Tuition Management Systems is an interest-free alternative that allows students to spread any balance over three months (bridge students), or four months (non-bridge students). Students must sign up for the payment plan well in advance of the bill due date to avoid late penalties. There is a $35 application fee each term that students choose to set up the payment plan. Visit the Tuition Management Systems site for more information on setting up a payment plan.

Other Resources

Additional scholarships and grants, sponsored by health-related foundations and professional organizations, may be available. The School of Nursing does not have a relationship with any of these groups and does not recommend any particular program. Conditions and availability of the resources listed may change, so it is important to contact each specific agency for current information.

In addition, you may be eligible for tuition assistance from your employer. Talk with your human resources personnel or the benefits administrator at your place of employment to learn about any tuition benefits that may be available.
