Financing Your Education

Tuition and Fees

Paying for graduate school can be a daunting prospect, so it’s important to explore all your payment options. To learn more about SocialWork@Simmons tuition and fees for the upcoming academic year, please refer to our Tuition and Financial Aid webpage.

While you can apply for financial aid, you may also want to explore other resources that may allow you to pay Simmons directly, including your income and employer benefits. You may also be eligible for veterans’ benefits if you or your spouse has ever served in the Armed Forces. Read more about veterans’ benefits at Simmons.

Payment Plans

If you are not able to pay your tuition and fees directly to Simmons before the semester begins, you can set up a payment plan. This will spread your balance over four monthly payments.

You can also combine the payment plan with other financing options. If you are receiving financial aid, you can arrange to pay the remaining costs over the four-month payment plan.

If you wish to set up a payment plan with Simmons, visit Tuition Management Systems.

We recognize that every student has different needs and resources, and we are available to help you determine which payment options will work best for you. You can contact Student Financial Services at sfs@simmons.edu or 617-521-2001.

Financial Aid

If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, you have many options for funding your graduate degree, including federal loans, grants, and scholarships. Private loans may also be an option if your financial aid does not cover your tuition costs.

Federal Loans

Loans granted through the federal government include the Federal Direct GradPLUS Loan and the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan. You will be considered for both loan programs when you file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To apply, complete the FAFSA — the Simmons College school code is 002208.

Federal loans must be paid back, but you have many flexible payment options after graduation, such as income-based repayment plans. Depending on the work you do after graduation, you may also be eligible for federal loan forgiveness programs, which decrease the number of payments you must make.

To ensure your financial aid arrives on time to pay your tuition, you should complete your FAFSA at least three weeks prior to your class start date.

Private Loans

Loans from private institutions are often used to offset the cost of tuition. Private loans have variable interest rates and cannot be forgiven as part of loan forgiveness programs. You should explore all your options carefully and investigate and vet all private lenders. Be sure you understand the interest rate and the repayment schedule before you agree to borrow.

Remember, you are not required to borrow the full loan amount for which you are eligible, and you should borrow only what you need to cover your tuition and fees. Simmons does not endorse or prefer any one lender to another.

If you have any questions about financial aid, please contact Student Financial Services at sfs@simmons.edu or 1-617-521-2001.
