SWO-528B Lifespan of Trauma Treatment: Adults and Families
This course provides a current review of trauma informed practices for adult survivors of complex trauma, trauma, as well as trauma informed practice interventions designed to work with families who have experienced chronic stress and complex trauma. Clinical social work with traumatized individuals and families requires a flexible and informed skillset.
This course will provide an overview of current literature and empirical evidence relating to the treatment of complex trauma in adulthood, and family systems, with an emphasis placed on work with vulnerable and oppressed populations. In addition, this course will provide students the opportunity to understand and engage in a variety of treatment approaches, as well as examine ethical issues, policy issues and issues pertaining to social justice, and their relationship to trauma treatment.
