Jumpstart Your Career With an Accelerated MBA

Exclusively offered to Simmons undergraduate students, the Simmons Accelerated Master of Business Administration program allows students who are pursuing their undergraduate degree with any major to simultaneously complete coursework toward their MBA. The combined degree program decreases the total number of credits needed to earn two degrees, saving students both time and money. Simmons undergraduate management alumnae can take advantage of the MBA course savings for up to three years after completing their undergraduate degree.

Applying to the Accelerated MBA Program

Criteria

To be eligible for course savings, applicants must:

  • Be Simmons University undergraduate students or graduates.
  • Submit an MBA@Simmons application by the posted priority deadline for the October or January term of their senior year or after they have completed 96 credits.
  • Have undergraduate electives left to complete.
  • Be in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Requirements

As part of the admissions process, candidates must interview with an admissions officer and submit the following materials:

  • Completed application form
  • One essay
  • Two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a Simmons faculty member or advisor and one professional)
  • Transcripts of all undergraduate study
  • Current resume demonstrating relevant work experience
  • An academic study plan from a Simmons advisor

Matriculating into the MBA Program

Students must earn a “B” or better in MBA coursework completed as an undergraduate in order to continue with the MBA program. Students must also submit an official Simmons transcript indicating degree conferral from the undergraduate program.

 

Management Majors (BSBA)

Students majoring in retail management, marketing, finance, accounting, or business management are eligible for a four-course savings. Accelerated MBA candidates take two MBA courses as part of their undergraduate studies, each of which fulfills an undergraduate general elective requirement.

Once students matriculate, the Accelerated MBA program waives two courses from the MBA curriculum.

  • MBAO455 Leading Individuals and Groups
  • MBAO420 Financial Reporting and Analysis
    (Accounting majors take MBAO411 Economic Analysis for Managers instead of MBAO420.)

Management Minors and Joint Management Majors

Students who have elected a management minor or joint management major are eligible for a three-course savings. They will enroll in two MBA courses as part of their undergraduate studies, each of which fulfills an undergraduate general elective requirement.

Students cannot count graduate-level courses taken as part of the Accelerated MBA program as required courses toward their undergraduate major.

Once students matriculate, the Accelerated MBA program waives one course from the MBA curriculum. The course will be chosen based on the undergraduate courses taken and in consultation with the MBA program director.

 

Other Simmons Major/Minors

Simmons undergraduate students majoring or minoring in non-management programs are eligible for a two-course savings. They will enroll in two MBA courses as part of their undergraduate studies, each of which fulfills an undergraduate general elective requirement.
