Accepted Students Timeline

Now that you have been accepted to SocialWork@Simmons, you must take steps to formally enroll and begin your classes. This timeline will help you understand what to expect throughout the enrollment process.
If you have any questions during the enrollment period, contact our admissions team at 1-855-523-7779 or admissions@socialwork.simmons.edu.
Before You Pay Your Deposit
- Sign and submit your Intent to Enroll (ITE) form. The ITE serves as a written acknowledgement of your intent to become a SocialWork@Simmons student. This document must be signed and returned to admissions@socialwork.simmons.edu.
- Sign and submit your Statement of Acknowledgement form. This form is your acceptance to the program and acknowledges any conditions to your admittance to the program. This document must be signed and returned to admissions@socialwork.simmons.edu.
- If you plan to apply for financial aid and have not done so already, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible.
Paying Your Deposit
- Log in to your online application to pay your deposit. The deposit is $300, and it is a non-refundable payment applied to your cost of tuition. You will not be able to register for your classes until your deposit is received. Your deposit can be paid using a MasterCard or Visa credit or debit card.
Remember: Your enrollment paperwork and enrollment deposit are due two weeks after you receive your electronic letter of admission.
What to Expect Once You Have Enrolled
After your enrollment forms and deposit are processed, you will begin your SocialWork@Simmons orientation.
- Welcome Call: Within 48 hours of receiving your deposit, a member of the SocialWork@Simmons student support team will contact you. During this quick call, your student support adviser will answer any questions you may have and let you know more about the program orientation.
- Workday: In this student portal, you will register for classes, update your personal or demographic information, view your bill, and pay your tuition.
- Orientation: Orientation is mandatory and has two components:
- Live Session Orientation: This live class session led by your student support adviser will tell you what to expect as a SocialWork@Simmons student. You will also take a virtual tour of the online learning platform.
- Foundation Course: This is self-paced. While not graded, the course is mandatory and must be completed before the start of your first term.
Note: You cannot begin your SocialWork@Simmons classes until you complete your orientation.
- Student ID Card: With your student ID, you will gain access to essential college services, including the campus bookstore. Your ID may also be required for your field placements. Your student support adviser will provide you with information on obtaining your Simmons ID card after you enroll. It can take up to five weeks to process, so we encourage you to take steps to obtain your ID as soon as possible upon enrollment.
- Registration: You will be able to register for your classes beginning five weeks before your cohort start date.
- You cannot register for classes until your enrollment deposit is received. If you have not done so, log in to your online application to pay your deposit.
- Pre-Read Textbooks: Students must read The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down (Fadiman, 1997) in advance of the first live class session for SWO-411A: Human Behavior in the Social Environment. We recommend that you purchase this book as soon as possible to prepare for your first term. All textbooks can be purchased at the Simmons University bookstore.
- Field Education: Approximately two weeks after your student support welcome call, a member of our field education team will call you to discuss your field placement requirements and responsibilities as well as discuss the process and expectations. Read more about field education here.
- Student Support Services: The student support team is available to assist you throughout your program. Contact student support if you need help with:
- Technology, including the online campus, the virtual classroom, or your own equipment
- Orientation and registration
- General questions or concerns about the program
- Throughout the first two weeks of class, support advisers will be on hand during every live class session to ensure your transition to our online classroom is as smooth as possible.
- Academic Advising: You will work directly with an academic adviser throughout your program. Your academic adviser will serve as your guide to the program, working with you to ensure you are meeting your personal and academic goals as well as meeting program milestones.
